Local Crime: Drunk Irishmen steal Domino's motorbikes after savage craic in North Sydney.
By ANNA USHER.
A pair of drunk Irishmen who stole two Domino’s delivery scooters have bitten off more than they could chew, after police were able to identify the men from CCTV images taken outside the store.
The brazen thieves struck last Wednesday, after spending the night playing poker at a North Sydney hotel.
North Shore Police Area Command say the reckless incident will take some topping.
The delivery scooters can fit up to 15 pizza boxes in rear heater compartments, and travel at a top speed of 80km/h.
“After reviewing Dominos security vision, police made enquiries at a nearby pub and were able to identify the men,” a spokesperson said.
The Irishmen, aged 21 and 25, had reportedly enjoyed a night of “savage craic” at The Union hotel, North Sydney, before heading to the Dominos store at 297 Pacific Highway, just after midnight.
It is believed the pair rode the motorbikes to a nearby residence.
The theft wasn’t noticed until a Domino’s manager arrived for work on Thursday morning.
With police ready to serve a supreme slice of justice, the men decided to face the heat – and turn themselves in.
Narrowly avoiding criminal charges, the lads admitted to making a foolish drunken decision, and apologised to staff at the fast food outlet.
Just happy to have their delivery bikes back, Domino’s did not want any further action taken.
