Retail News: Mosman proves magnetic for luxury fashion brands Tommy Hilfiger and Bec + Bridge!
By ANNA USHER.
Luxury brands are choosing Mosman as the location for their flagship stores, with two high-end retailers about to set up shop in the village.
Designer Aussie label Bec + Bridge will open its doors at the end of the month, closely followed by iconic international brand, Tommy Hilfiger.
The exclusive store fronts join the likes of Carla Zampatti, Camilla and Marc, Curve Boutique, Jigsaw and The Upside on Military Rd.
“The arrival of these two major labels is a real vote of confidence for Mosman’s retail environment,” Ray White Commercial Director, Scott Stephens, says.
“I have a long list of prestige brands who want space in the village, and many are just sitting tight, until a suitable store comes up.”
Case in point is cult label Bec + Bridge, who waited two years for a “perfect location” to become vacant.
“Bec + Bridge wanted a prime position on Military Rd – and when Scoot Kids closed recently, they were ready to jump,” Mr. Stephens said.
“The same thing happened with Tommy Hilfiger.
“As a prolific brand requiring a fantastic, visible Mosman location, Ray White Commercial is thrilled to have found them exactly what they were looking for.”
Mr. Stephens said Curve Boutique’s relocation earlier this month presented an ideal opportunity for the American brand.
“Tommy Hilfiger coming to Mosman is a game changer, no doubt about it” he said.
But while the launch of two major brands comes as welcome news, there are several established local retailers about to exit Mosman.
Makeup and fragrance lovers will mourn the loss of M.A.C cosmetics, Jo Malone and Bobbi Brown, believed to have their last day of trading on February 28th.
The brands, owned under the Estee Lauder Companies umbrella, have held neighbouring positions on the corner of Mandolong and Military Rd for five years.
“M.A.C is looking for bigger premises to let, it’s as simple as that,” Mr. Stephens said, “that store particularly, has always been very popular with local customers.”
Widely known both here and overseas as a “designer shopping destination”, Mosman will continue to attract luxury brands, Mr. Stephens said.
“Big names bring people to the village, which is a great thing for the local economy,” he said, “the arrival of Bec + Bridge and Tommy Hilfiger adds a new, vibrant mix to Military Rd.”
