Once again, our local community have opened their hearts and their wallets, at a gala ladies luncheon held on Friday, in support of the life-changing SISTER2sister charity.

Hosted by Ben Fordham and Georgie Gardner, the event took place at Mosman’s stylish Bistro Moncur, with a curated menu by Chef Jon Trouillet – and a generous array of auction prizes donated by local business, which raised an incredible $68,000.

As part of its mission to give back to the community, the women of The Buena’s Fallon family organised the glamorous event, which was attended by 100 ladies, who dined on Sydney Rock Oysters, French Onion Souffle, Barramundi, and Fillet Steak, followed by Bombe Alaska and Chocolate Tart.

Free flowing Moet helped set the upbeat mood, with the opulent dining space adorned with feminine floral arrangements of pink, peach, white and lilac roses by Kashaya & Co.

"The luncheon totally exceeded all our expectations and we are so grateful for the support of the generous women in Mosman - and of course the local stores who donated the most amazing prizes," Tamara Martin told Mosman Collective.

"It was a beautiful day, but also quite emotional to hear the stories of disadvantaged and marginalised girls - at times there wasn't a dry eye in the house.

"We are so blessed to live in this community. Having the opportunity to support people in need is a wonderful thing," she said.

SISTER2sister is a unique, early intervention program which combines the benefits of one-on-one mentoring, with monthly life skills workshops focusing on self-esteem, resilience, trauma and health.

"When the Fallon girls heard about this program, through Harriet Waugh, we immediately knew that this was a charity we wanted to get behind," Tamara said.

"So Tessa, Sheryl and myself have taken it on board, and we can't wait for the next event.

"To have 100 local women in one room, all with a passion to help others, is an incredibly powerful thing," she said.

"And having Ben Fordham and Georgie Gardner as our Hosts, generously donating their time on the day, was the absolute icing on the cake."

Founded by Jessica Brown, the SISTER2sister charity receives no government funding and relies entirely on the generosity of volunteers and supporters.

It aims to help break the cycle of abuse, neglect, poverty, addiction, mental health issues and teen pregnancy amongst our most marginalised girls.

“We will continue to do whatever we can, to help these young girls become strong, independent women,” Tamara said.

“Many of the women in our community are in a position to give back, and that was the idea behind our luncheon.

“The support from the people of Mosman and in particular the small businesses who generously donated prizes, has been overwhelming,” she said.
