6 Lang St: Is this Mosman’s most beautiful kitchen? We think so! And it could be all yours just in time for Christmas!
By ANNA USHER.
“A labour of love” is how Melissa Isles describes the stunning Mosman home she’s brought back to life, after an incredible two year renovation that’s transformed a tired Federation property, into the perfect family space.
After returning to Australia in 2015, following a decade spent overseas, Melissa and husband Derek were looking for a Mosman restoration, and immediately knew that 6 Lang St was “the one”.
“As soon as we saw the house, we knew that it had to be ours,” Melissa tells Mosman Collective.
“It had grand proportions - and although we could see that it was a wonderful home, some serious work was needed.
“And so began a long journey to bring the home into the 21st century.”
Untouched for more than 30 years, Melissa wanted to retain the original façade and re-build the back of the house, to create spacious indoor/outdoor living areas, with a seamless flow.
“The plan was always to have a bright and breezy home, filled with light and lots of textural spaces,” Melissa said.
“We wanted a timeless yet contemporary residence – and it exceeded all our expectations.”
Set on 539 sqm, the magnificent home is a masterclass in exquisite family living, with three generous bedrooms, two bathrooms and a stunning salt water pool.
A luxe, marble island kitchen featuring brass fittings, walk-in pantry and an integrated Liebherr fridge is impressive in scale and size – and DA approved plans to add space with a second level are ready for a new owner.
“Yes, I’ve caught the renovating bug, so we’ve decided to move on to our next Mosman project,” Melissa says.
“I’m studying interior design and am very much looking forward to transforming another home.”
Listed with McGrath’s Piers van Hamburg, 6 Lang St goes to auction on Saturday 8 December, at 12:45pm.
