GET READY MOSMAN! THE BIGGEST NIGHT IN OUR COMMUNITY CALENDAR IS BACK – AND IT PROMISES TO BE MORE SPECTACULAR THAN EVER, AS ANNA USHER REPORTS.

The date has been set – and preparations are already well underway for Mosman’s annual Prince Albert St Christmas Lights party.

More than 100 luxury homes are expected to participate in the dazzling event, which attracts thousands of visitors each year, and raises money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

“The street party continues to go from strength-to-strength and provides a great opportunity for families to catch up in the days before Christmas,” organiser Pam Longstaff said.

“But more importantly, it allows our community to give back to those less fortunate, during the most special time of the year.

“It’s become one of the most wonderful events on our local calendar.”

Pam said Prince Albert St will be closed to traffic for the December 16 party, with the light display taking place between 7:00pm-10:00pm.

“This year we have a number of local businesses on board to provide food and entertainment – and Santa will also be making a guest appearance,” Pam said.

Mosman Lions Club has again volunteered to fire up the barbie, to provide “thousands” of sausages for hungry party-goers, will all proceeds going to charity.

“The efforts of the Lions Club are incredible, and we ask that everyone buys a sausage sandwich on the night,” Pam said.

“We also have local eateries Fourth Village and Four Frogs Creperie on board – along with Gelato Messina – so nobody will go hungry!”

Pam said she encourages local school children to get involved on the night, by preparing baked goods and hand-made decorations to sell.

“All Mosman kids are welcome to organise a stall, and an allocated spot can be provided for them on Prince Albert St,” she said.

“The real magic of the occasion is seeing our children really involved in a community experience.

“They love selling their Christmas goodies and contributing to our chosen charity.”
