Charity Drive: Mosman Gives Back This Christmas

GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY IS SOMETHING THAT'S HIGH ON THE AGENDA HERE AT MOSMAN COLLECTIVE - AND WHEN WE RECEIVED THE NEWS THAT BARNARDOS AUSTRALIA WAS IN URGENT NEED OF GIFT DONATIONS FOR CHRISTMAS, LIBBY MOFFET AND ANNA USHER DIDN'T HESITATE TO LEND A HAND.

For most of us, it is a bountiful season filled with festive joy, happiness and a haul of presents.

But in Australia, there are thousands of children who don’t wish for toys at Christmas. All they long for is a regular meal, loving affection – and a stable family environment where no one will hurt them.

This week, local PR veteran Libby Moffet and I set out to bring some joy into the lives of desperate children in need. And while a momentous task, we’ve managed to make Christmas Day a bit brighter for at least 120 young people, who will wake up this year to a beautiful gift donated by a generous local business.

Mosman Mayor Carolyn Corrigan received our huge pile of presents, which will make their way to our chosen charity, Barnardos Australia on Monday.

Our aim was to find items suitable for tweens and teenagers, who are often overlooked at this time of the year – and we were totally blown away by the 120 luxury contributions received, worth more than $5000!

Our sincere thank you to these small business owners who’ve gone above and beyond with donations. Your thoughtfulness will truly make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate, on Christmas morning.
