A clever PR campaign has drip fed playful social media hints of what to expect for weeks; only adding to the local excitement - and ensuring the sky high restaurant and bar is a hot topic of conversation everywhere.

So what do we know about Mosman's lush new space?

Well, the clever blokes behind The Greens (North Sydney) and Acre Eatery (Camperdown) - John Tully and Luke Heard - are the magicians behind this new venture, located in the formerly dormant roof space at the Mosman Club.

The Commissary in Los Angeles is said to have provided inspiration for The Fernery.

The Commissary in Los Angeles is said to have provided inspiration for The Fernery.

The pair reportedly toured the globe earlier this year in search of inspiration, falling in love with the greenhouse feel of Commissary in Los Angeles.

"We really intend to go over the top with greenery and fresh flowers," Tully told SMH Good Food.

"Hopefully people will walk in an go 'wow' about the space, then feel the same when they see the view."

We know the colour palette is an eye-catching deep teal and pale terracotta, with patrons entering through a dramatic tunnel (see images below).

Head chef Gavin Gray (Catalina) and Mitchell Davis (former Executive chef at Huxley's) will be The Fernery's driving force in the kitchen (along with their shiny, new Josper charcoal oven!) - and then there's urban farmer Adrian Baiada, who's landscaped a rooftop garden.

A Rosé bar will feature seven types on tap - and there's said to be a winding staircase, leading to a gin room.

The Fernery's first big test will come on Christmas Day and New Years Eve (bookings for both events are open now @adminthefernerymosman.com.au) - but without any shadow of a doubt, our new summer playground will be a welcome addition to our local restaurant and bar scene.
